Announcing the Top Rated Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) Products for 2019

TrustRadius Top Rated

Today, we awarded the 2019 TrustRadius Top Rated badges for Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS). The TrustRadius Top Rated awards are the most trusted in the industry because they are an unbiased reflection of customer sentiment, based solely on user feedback and satisfaction scores. Top Rated awards are the voice of the market and are not influenced by analyst opinion, the vendor’s company size, popularity, or status as a TrustRadius customer.

Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) Products

The difference between iPaaS technologies and older integration technologies are twofold: Firstly these are cloud native products that are lighter-weight and delivered via the cloud. Secondly, iPaaS technologies are relatively simple to use and are frequently purchased by line-of-business organizations rather than the IT department.

Enterprise platforms with a broad range of capabilities tend to be more difficult to use than products designed for small companies. It is vitally important to understand what level of complexity your user base will be able to handle before selecting a product. Some products require coding abilities, at least for some tasks, while others are designed for citizen integrators or business users with limited or no technical abilities.

Here are the winners:

ifttt tr score

IFTTT is a free software platform that connects apps, devices and services from different developers in order to trigger one or more automations involving those apps, devices and services. It has been designed to provide simple automation to various tasks and is aimed at both consumers and business groups within corporations who want to connect tools together rapidly and simply.

IFTTT stands for the programming conditional statement “If This Then That”. The name of the product is entirely descriptive of what it does. For example, If you add a new task to your Amazon Alexa to-dos, then it will be added to your iOS Reminders App, or saving new Microsoft Office 365 contacts to a spreadsheet automatically saves them to a spreadsheet. Users love the ease-of-use and the very large library of pre-built applets and services.

“The nonprofit I used to work for was very lean, so automation was key. We used IFTTT to trigger posts between Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other socials. In addition, we would use it to kickoff certain actions internally such as email notifications, automatically creating calendar events, etc. IFTTT was a great way to integrate different apps that didn’t have a direct integration.”

zapier tr score

Zapier is a relatively simple automation integration product for non-technical users and is targeted at individuals and SMBs. Essentially, it allows triggers to be set which can be linked to specific actions or outcomes. For example, automatically downloading images from email and staring them in Dropbox. The application is also capable of much more complex workflow creation.

“The number of web apps Zapier plugs in to is mind boggling! The rate of growth of: A) the amount of apps and B) the amount of triggers and actions on each app is impressive and means that, if it doesn’t do what you want right now, it probably will soon. I wouldn’t bother taking on a new app for us or our clients if I knew it couldn’t plug in to Zapier.”

piesync tr score

PieSync is an SMB-focused iPaaS tool. It is a relatively inexpensive platform and corporate messaging stresses the ability to sync data between apps once they have been connected. The tool monitors records in both linked apps and when it detects changes it updates the data in the target app keeping everything in sync. It has fewer pre-built integrations than some of the alternative SMB tools, and does not provide API integration.

“PieSync is being used to sync contacts between CRM, email, and marketing systems to ensure all contact details are up to date and included in all systems. This has been saving hours of work since we no longer need to manually enter the contact information in multiple systems. Grateful to have PieSync save us time.”

azuqua tr score

Azuqua is a cloud-based enterprise iPaaS platform. Azuqua was acquired by Okta in March 2019. Azuqua is a no-code platform designed primarily for the citizen integrator, but also accommodates more technical users. Azuqua differs from other vendors in this space in that their go-to-market model is primarily an embedded sales model. In other words, Azuqua is positioned as a white-label platform that is embedded by other SaaS app vendors to provide an integration layer as a core offering of their products. However, Azuqua also sells to direct customers and is a valid option for buyers looking for an internal iPaas. The product is praised by reviewers for the ease of use in building workflows and integrations, and for the excellent support team.

“I am not a developer, and yet with just a few hours of coaching, I was able to set up a very advanced FLO that connects half a dozen different systems and touches multiple departments…Great support.”

Treacy S. | Director of Operations | Computer Software Company

TIBCO Cloud Integration

tibco tr score

TIBCO Cloud Integration is an enterprise platform including a compendium of capabilities including the BusinessWorks hybrid integration platform, and Scribe. BusinessWorks and Scribe are separate products used for different use cases but are both parts of a single offering.

TIBCO BusinessWorks product is essentially an Enterprise Service Bus used as integration middleware. This is a powerful but legacy environment allowing businesses to connect their applications, services, data sources, clients or applications to the central bus which provides a centralized place to manage these connections elegantly. TIBCO acquired Scribe in 2018. Scribe is a multi-tenant enterprise iPaaS designed for integrating SaaS applications and data flows using an intuitive browser-based user interface designed primarily for non-technical business users.

Users love the no-code approach of Scribe and the wide variety of connectors available out-of-the-box. They also love the support in BusinessWorks for REST/JSON and SOAP for web service development.

“When we evaluated iPaaS solutions…the major concern was to provide it in the hands of support and not a developer. That is where Scribe stood out and we have only built a handful of connectors thus far. We are excited to explore more of its capabilities and continue our journey on solving the integration needs of our customers.
