As we delve into B2B CSR trends, it’s clear that shaping a more inclusive and compassionate tech industry is a gradual process—but progress is evident. The highlights of this year’s Tech Cares submissions include a broader focus among tech companies. They donate to those in need, empower women in tech, promote inclusion for all, and support sustainability in innovative ways.

Companies we’d like to highlight for excelling in these trends

Sustainability and the environment

Vendors are prioritizing sustainability beyond carbon neutrality by engaging in reforestation projects and setting climate neutrality targets. In 2022, TrustRadius made the decision to fully embrace being a remote company and the impact that it could have on our world. By eliminating commutes and going completely paperless, we have lowered the carbon footprint of running a 10,000 sq. ft. office and have taken strides toward a more sustainable future.. Let’s take a look at how other companies have positively impacted the environment through sustainability. 

  • 8×8, Inc.: 8×8, Inc. is dedicated to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This year they received ISO 14001 certification and launched initiatives including setting up an ESG council, implementing recycling and composting programs in all of their offices, and transitioning to a green renewable electricity tariff.
  • BMC Software Inc.: BMC Software Inc. aims to reduce its carbon footprint, protect endangered species habitats, create local employment opportunities, and foster a sense of purpose within the BMC ecosystem. It has hundreds of ongoing conservation efforts, including planting 42,802 trees, storing 6,303 tons of carbon dioxide, creating 128,406 animal shelters, generating 170,984 months of oxygen, and joining an ocean conservancy project with TeamSeas.
  • Genesys: Genesys has reduced their carbon emissions by 10% year over year, including Genesys Cloud operations, which are now entirely carbon neutral.  The Genesys Global Sustainability Ambassador network includes more than 150 employees who spend part of their time supporting sustainability initiatives through education and engagement with local communities and teams.
  • Riskified: Riskified has begun tracking monthly energy usage in their only physical offices, in Tel Aviv and New York. They also have established various waste and energy management initiatives, including energy-efficient lighting, recycling and composting areas, plastic reduction return bins, computer repurchase programs, food donation programs, and sustainability-focused educational and volunteering activities. Additionally, congratulations to their Tel Aviv office, which recently received a LEED Gold rating.
  • ZoomInfo: ZoomInfo has transitioned to a nearly paperless office worldwide, reducing deforestation, conserving resources, improving transparency, and enhancing security. Additionally, ZoomInfo collaborates to prevent e-waste from ending up in landfills by repurposing used electronics to give to those without access, helping to close the digital divide within their community.
Volunteerism

Many nominated vendors showcased their commitment to giving back through employee volunteer programs and community engagement initiatives. At TrustRadius, our team regularly volunteers, including cleaning up local parks and recently serving 300 meals at the Angel House Soup Kitchen in Austin, Texas.   • Atera: Atera fosters a culture of collective social responsibility by involving all employees in quarterly volunteer projects, such as assisting local food banks, supporting the elderly, and engaging with at-risk youth through activities like surfing and building bicycles. These efforts unite the workforce, reinforce the company’s commitment to social responsibility, and provide valuable support to vulnerable communities.
  • Dayforce: Dayforce is committed to making a positive impact through corporate pledges, employee fundraising, and volunteerism to benefit local communities by launching their employee-driven charity. The mission of Dayforce’s Ceridian Cares is to support families in need and enhance community well-being by focusing on essential needs and overall quality of life.
  • Contentstack: Contentstack Cares Month is an exciting initiative hosted by the company that deepens their commitment to community involvement. Throughout March, they encourage their employees to embody their values by dedicating additional time to support causes they are passionate about. Full-time employees receive 16 hours of volunteer time off to engage in activities such as park cleanups, house-building projects, volunteering at soup kitchens, or whatever other projects they might be passionate about. 
  • Dun & Bradstreet: In the past year, Dun & Bradstreet employees have supported 623 causes, volunteered 13,527 hours, and donated $745,361 to charitable organizations through sponsorships and personal and matched donations. Their global giving and volunteering program, Do Good, enhances their CSR efforts by matching donations and offering volunteer support to nonprofits. Additionally, team members receive 16 hours of paid volunteer time off annually.
  • Verint: On June 13, 2024, Verint’s Next Generation (NextGen) program celebrated its second annual “Global Day of Giving,” seeing participation from over 350 “Verinteers,” a 27% increase from the previous year. With a significant boost of 42% in volunteer hours, totaling 1,360, Verinteers contributed to a range of activities, including community cleanups, food bank support, events at children’s hospitals and community centers, and various charitable initiatives.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)

Vendors are promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through employee resource groups (ERGs) and robust DEI programs. TrustRadius’ DEI program was launched six years ago and started with small group meetings lead by our CEO to discuss unconscious bias. Our DEI program has expanded to include classes like Microaggressions: Taking Responsibility and Disrupting Our Unconscious Bias and ERGs like Women of TR.   • Braze: Braze was recognized in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index for its strong commitment to LGBTQ+ workplace equality and received the HRC’s Equality 100 Award for achieving a perfect score. Additionally, Braze launched the Forging Mentorship program, inspired by the ELLE Mentorship Program, to support employee career and personal development, focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion through ERG preference-based matching.
  • F5: F5’s talent acquisition programs emphasize diversity by implementing a balanced slate policy to ensure that diverse candidates are considered for every role. They align with employee inclusion groups to effectively use diverse networks, reduce bias through competency-based assessments, and streamline internal transfers by focusing on adjacent skills to promote employee growth.
  • Lucid Software: Lucid Software celebrates diversity in many ways with its team, including “Cultures of Lucid Food Night,” where the team shared their own national dishes at HQ during Lunar New Year and Holi. Lucid even held a panel during Pride Month, where its team was able to have a safe space to share their authentic selves and how the people around them shaped their lives. 
  • Motive: Motive’s new DEI initiatives for 2024 include inclusive team training, a formal mentorship program for underrepresented employees, and Women in Tech roundtables to support and address challenges for women in tech. Additionally, Motive has launched a Leader Academy with McKinsey & Co. for people of color, conducted demographic reviews of promotion processes, and established a formal allyship community to promote advocacy and support.
  • ScienceLogic: ScienceLogic has established many strong diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, including ERGs such as Black Logicians, SciLo Pride, SciLo Vets, and HOLA. These ERGs reflect ScienceLogic’s dedication to fostering diversity and inclusivity by giving underrepresented groups a platform to share their experiences, receive support, and promote awareness and education about diversity and inclusion.
Generous donations

Vendors are making a positive impact through generous donations to support small businesses, nonprofits, education, and bridging the digital divide. Last fall, the TrustRadius culture committee challenged the team to raise funds for Feeding America, which collaborates with local food banks, food pantries, and meal programs to provide for people in need. Employees raised $5,000, with our Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) matching the sales team’s $1,000 donation, contributing to 94,000 meals for the organization. Donations can make a huge impact. Let’s take a look at how other companies have raised funds to help others. 

  • 6Sense: 6sense is committed to making a positive impact through charitable donations and community support. The team at 6sense donated over $178,000 to more than 20 charities, including the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, the Greater Boston Food Bank, AIDS/LifeCycle, and the Poona Blind School and Home for the Blind. They have supported initiatives focused on education, health, and social justice, reflecting their dedication to corporate social responsibility and making a difference in the communities they serve.
  • Cisco: Cisco aims to positively impact one billion people by 2025. In pursuit of this goal, over 70,000 Cisco employees contributed more than $27 million through donations and matching gifts, exceeding their target of 80% workforce participation in activities such as advocacy, volunteering, and community programs.
  • Dialpad: Dialpad supports small businesses through its Dialpad for Good program, which includes initiatives like Tech for Black Founders. To date, Dialpad has provided over $435,000 in discounts and support to more than 85 U.S. and Canada-based start-ups led by Black founders, offering free licenses and significant discounts to help these businesses thrive.
  • Prophix Software: Each quarter, when Prophix meets its sales targets, the company donates $50,000 to a nonprofit organization that is making a positive impact. Employees nominate their preferred causes and the final recipient is chosen through a popular vote, allowing Prophix to support a range of charitable initiatives that resonate with the team, including War Child Canada, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and hEr VOLUTION.
  • Zoom: Zoom donated $3.775 million in grants to 50 nonprofits across over 20 countries, including $402,500 for crisis response to 16 nonprofits in 13+ countries, such as the Hawai‘i Community Foundation in support of the Lahaina wildfire and the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth in support of the Canada wildfires. Additionally, Zoom contributed $1.7 million in in-kind product donations to 70 nonprofits in 14 countries, exemplified by their support of Kaleidoscope Youth Center in Columbus, OH, with grants and products for LGBTQIA+ youth on World Mental Health Day.
Community Impact

Vendors are actively engaged in initiatives that make a positive difference in broad and niche communities and address various social issues.

  • Altium: Altium has had a considerable impact within their community. Altium User Groups significantly impacted their communities by fostering a global community of printed circuit board (PCB) designers and engineers. These self-organized groups provide opportunities for learning, networking, and direct interaction with Altium staff. They offer a platform for users to share feedback, express challenges, and learn from each other.
  • Bonterra: Bonterra’s core mission is to empower nonprofits, foundations, and corporations to enhance their community impact. They purposefully highlight diverse organizations, including those focused on LGBTQ+, Native American, Black, mental health, disability, and environmental causes by showcasing their missions and achievements through customer stories and social media.
  • Nextiva: Nextiva created the Nextiva Business Scholarship to assist aspiring students in pursuing degrees in business and the arts as well as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The scholarship winner receives $1,000, paid directly to the recipient’s college or university, along with public recognition for their innovative thinking and inspiring academic journey.
  • Paylocity: In collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Paylocity prepared over 10,000 bags to support families in need during the SHRM conference in June 2024. Through this partnership with NAMI, Paylocity is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of individuals facing mental illness and is proud to contribute to raising awareness and providing support.
  • ShareFile: ShareFile has worked with Hopscotch Music Festival to streamline the management of the festival’s vast amount of documents and digital assets. This collaboration helps the festival manage its operations more effectively, ensuring that crucial documents are easily accessible and securely shared among team members and stakeholders within their shared community.
Employee well-being and development

Companies invest in their employees’ growth, well-being, and unique needs through programs, support, and open communication. TrustRadians receive an annual stipend that can be applied to any kind of personal growth, from classes and books to conferences and coaching sessions. We also have a monthly self-care day where the entire company takes a day off to rest and recharge.   • Mimecast: Mimecast shared that they are committed to creating a rewarding workplace and earned recognition as a top employer with certifications from Great Places To Work and Top Workplaces. Employees appreciate the growth opportunities and hybrid working model, which supports a healthy work/life balance, while the company also prioritizes mental health by celebrating Mimecaster Appreciation Day with a day off for relaxation.
  • Momentive Software (formerly Community Brands): Momentive Software believes in the holistic well-being of their team members. Their India health and wellness team recently organized an engaging session on emotional eating management, exploring the link between emotions and food choices. The session provided valuable insights for developing healthier eating habits, which can contribute to a happier and healthier life. 
  • Spotfire: Spotfire provides fair and competitive benefits tailored to meet the diverse needs of its global workforce. The company’s approach emphasizes work/life harmony, generous parental leave, and support for gender transition and military leave, and strives to ensure a balanced and inclusive environment for all employees.
  • SysAid Technologies: SysAid prioritizes employee well-being with various benefits, including daily lunch, happy hours, team-building events, and end-of-summer and holiday parties. They offer a flexible work-from-home policy, travel opportunities, high-tech zone memberships, and a generous health insurance plan. Additional perks include parental leave, global wellness days, stock options, birthday and holiday gifts, and free gym memberships.
  • TriNet: Within the last year, TriNet launched the TriNet Career Center to provide colleagues with resources for professional growth, including training programs, career coaching, and a mentorship program. Additionally, TriNet received the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health certification and enhanced its wellness offerings by increasing bereavement leave, extending civic volunteer time off, and expanding parental leave to up to 18 weeks.
Support for women in technology

Vendors are actively working to address gender disparities and empower women in the tech industry through scholarships, partnerships, and internal initiatives.

  • KnowBe4: KnowBe4 has been recognized for its commitment to supporting women in technology. In 2023, it was named one of GirlsClub’s Top 25 Workplaces for Women and earned a spot on Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Women list of the best places to work for women in technology for six consecutive years. The company also promotes gender diversity, maintaining a nearly 50% female workforce, and awards an annual $10,000 Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship for women pursuing cybersecurity degrees.
  • Microsoft: In the last year at Microsoft, the representation of women in executive roles rose to 29.1%, marking a 3.2 percentage point increase from the previous year, the highest growth among all gender and racial groups. Additionally, the proportion of women in technical roles increased by 0.8 percentage points year over year, contributing to a total rise of 3.6 percentage points in women’s representation since 2019.
  • Paycom: Paycom donated $50,000 to Oklahoma Women in Technology (OKWIT) through its employee giving program, aiming to enhance educational and leadership opportunities for young women in STEM. This commitment is reflected in Paycom’s workforce, where nearly half are female and over half hold leadership roles, and all supported by benefits such as discounted childcare and generous parental leave.
  • Quantified.ai (Quantified Communications, Inc): Quantified.ai’s leadership team is 40% female, and its engineering team is 50% female, showcasing its commitment to gender diversity across global operations in the U.S., Europe, Pakistan, and South America. The company partners with women’s leadership programs at institutions like Northwestern, Harvard, and WestPoint, and is focused on expanding support for underrepresented populations, with a particular emphasis on women in tech and reducing bias in its algorithms.
  • TIBCO Software Inc.: TIBCO Software’s Women in Technology initiative advances gender equality in the tech industry by offering mentorship, career development, and networking opportunities specifically for women. The program includes leadership training, sponsorship, targeted recruitment, and external partnerships to support and promote gender diversity, both within the company and in the broader tech sector.
Educational support

These vendors recognize the importance of education in empowering individuals and communities, promoting STEM education, and addressing educational disparities.

  • Altium: Altium strongly focuses on educational support, offering free licenses and resources for students and educators through programs such as Altium Education and Altium Student Lab. They continue to provide comprehensive courses on PCB design and equip students with the skills and resources needed to succeed in the industry.
  • Sage: Sage collaborated with Newcastle Rugby Foundation and Sportable to enhance STEM education for young people by incorporating sports technology into their learning. This initiative used interactive rugby-related experiences to engage students and spark interest in STEM subjects.
  • Vena Solutions: Vena Solutions’ Education Reimbursement Program allows its team to pursue any career-relevant learning they choose, and provides subsidies for conferences, online courses, and professional association fees. Vena Solutions has continued to grow as it has revamped this program and now offers more guidance on diversifying learning.
  • WatchGuard Technologies: The WatchGuard Initiative for Security Education (WISE) helps students by providing cybersecurity training and resources and enhancing their knowledge and skills in network security. This initiative aims to prepare students for careers in cybersecurity through hands-on experience and industry-relevant education.
  • Wrike: Wrike annually hosts Hour of Code, part of a week-long effort to teach children and adults of any age the basic engineering principles in support of Computer Science Education Week. With teachers from across the globe, Wrike helped bring the program to over three million students in just five days.
