Task Factory is a data integration tool designed to make extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes faster and easier. Automation features let users schedule ETL jobs and send alerts and notifications. Users with custom needs can use Bash and Python components to adapt the software to their needs. Validation and data sampling features help users ensure that their jobs are running as expected. Matillion also includes a version control system to help keep development teams in sync. Users from midsize companies make up about two-thirds (65%) of Matillion reviewers on TrustRadius. Users value Matillion’s team collaboration features, straightforward integration with AWS, and shallow learning curve.

What are Data Integration Tools?

In complex data centers, multiple systems often create large volumes of valuable data. However, this data must be aggregated before it can be properly analyzed. Data integration tools help solve this problem by providing a unified view of data gathered from across an enterprise’s systems. Products in this category follow the ETL process of obtaining, cleaning, and loading data into a data warehouse or similar database.

Data integration tools can process and unify data from a large variety of sources. Mainframes, spreadsheets, databases, and other applications are all potential sources of structured data. These tools can often process unstructured data as well, incorporating information from email, instant messaging applications, and web pages. De-duping and data sanitation features help make sure that data is ready for analysis. Vendors often include job-creation tools to standardize and streamline repeated data operations.

When considering data integration tools, evaluate your expected user base. Some tools may have more robust visual interfaces, while others may lean more heavily on a code-based interface. You should also make sure that the solution is capable of accessing every data source you want to integrate. If your chosen tool doesn’t interact well with an important data source, analysis on the collected data might be much more difficult.

Products included in the 2019 Top Rated Data Integration Tools list must have been in the top tier of their category TrustMap as of August 1st, 2019. To qualify for the Data Integration Tools Top Rated Award, products must have at least 10 reviews written within the past year, a TRScore of at least 7.5 out of 10, and must receive at least 1.5% of the traffic in their category.  Every reviewer is verified and every review is vetted before publication.
