adobe-premiere-pro-vs-powerdirector

August 21st, 2020 3 min read

Adobe Premiere Pro and PowerDirector are both video editing tools that businesses can use to create professional video content.  Adobe Premiere Pro is part of Adobe’s creative cloud suite and is designed to provide high level editing features at an affordable rate.  PowerDirector, in addition to editing features provides a library of visual effects that can be easily added to videos.  Both Adobe Premiere Pro and PowerDirector are used by businesses of all sizes, and are particularly popular with smaller businesses.

Features

Adobe Premiere Pro and PowerDirector both provide essential video editing features, but they also have some standout features that set them apart from each other.

Adobe Premiere Pro provides an easy to use interface along with a library of resources beginners can use to learn the software.  Being one of the most common tools in the industry, businesses can also expect that most video editors will at least have some familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro.  Adobe Premiere Pro also includes features such as facial recognition and haze removal that simplify the editing process.  All in all, Adobe Premiere Pro is a strong choice for new and experienced editors alike.

PowerDirector includes a standalone audio editing tool that allows users to professionally tune their audio, easily add audio effects, and more.  Businesses looking to add effects to their videos will also appreciate PowerDirectors deep library of visual effects that are coupled with color correction tools to make it easy to add effects to any video.  PowerDirector is a strong choice for businesses looking to add effects to their video, or who need professional audio editing tools in addition to video editing.

Limitations

Though Adobe Premiere Pro and PowerDirector can both be used to create professional videos, they also have some limitations that are important to consider.

Adobe Premiere Pro provides a simple to use interface, and some audio editing options, but it doesn’t include a standalone audio editing tool.  Businesses looking for a granular level of control over their audio may prefer PowerDirector, and the audio editing tool it provides.  Additionally, While Adobe Premiere Pro does include a library of visual effects, they aren’t as varied or easy to implement as the library provided by PowerDirector.

PowerDirector provides a standalone audio editing tool and a library of visual effects, but new users will have a more difficult time learning it than other options.  As the interface has changed significantly with newer versions, even users that have used the software in the past will have to take time to refamiliarize themselves with the tool.  Businesses looking for an easy to use tool may prefer Adobe Premiere Pro.

Pricing

Adobe Premiere Pro can be purchased as a standalone tool for $33.99 per month per license.  It can also be purchased as part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud suite, which costs $79.99 per month per license and includes other tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

PowerDirector is available for $19.99 per month per license.
