autodesk-bim-360-vs-procore

June 28th, 2020 3 min read

Bim360 and Procore are competitors in the construction software space, but have some key differences. While Procore is designed to be a more comprehensive and all-in-one construction management platform, Bim360 focuses on the business processes and project management aspects of construction.

Bim360’s user base on TrustRadius is primarily mid-sized companies, similar to Procore. However, Procore has over 950 ratings and reviews compared to Bim360’s 30+. Procore is a more popular tool, but Bim360’s specialization should be considered if Procore’s product pieces don’t suit your needs. Bim360 also comes from Autodesk, which is known for its high-quality programs made for designing and engineering across a variety of industries.

Features

Procore’s platform can be broken into 4 different offerings: Preconstruction, Resource Management, Project Management, and Financial Management. Buyers have the option of using only one or a combination of these tools. The Preconstruction offering focuses on prequalification and bid management whereas the Resource Management component helps users with field management. Given its comprehensiveness, Procore users consistently call-out how much they enjoy being able to do everything pertaining to their jobs within one platform.

Bim360 is designed for the “office” side of construction and can compete with Procore the best on all its components except perhaps its field management suite. It also has three different offerings under its name: Build, Coordinate, and Plan. Bim360 users also have the benefit of directly integrating their software with other tools like Revit Cloud Worksharing to facilitate online collaboration.

Limitations

Bim360 users mention that it may not be the most user-friendly tool on the construction software market, namely that others are easier to use. They also mention that Bim360 may not be the most suitable for bidding, controlling a budget, handling submittals, or internal collaboration (may be better suited for contractors).

Similar to Bim360, Procore also has a steep learning curve, however its document management features are highly rated in particular. Another area where Procore could stand to improve according to its users is its drawing and design features. Others also mention that it is a bit expensive.

Pricing

Speaking of Procore’s pricing, its starting price is actually lower than Bim360’s despite its userbase finding it fairly expensive. Procore’s pricing for just its project management component is $375/yr with unlimited users. For a bundle of its project management and financial management components, buyers can expect to pay $549/yr per user. Pricing for the whole platform or more than two components is contingent upon the number of users and which tools are chosen.

Bim360’s pricing starts at $480/yr per user, but buyers also have the option of contact sales for special pricing.
