ez-texting-vs-textmagic
EZ Texting and TextMagic are both software designed to help businesses create and manage text marketing campaigns. EZ Texting is a mobile marketing software specialized for SMS marketing, whereas TextMagic is a communications platform built for highly customizable automated SMS messaging. Both software options are more popular with small businesses, though EZ Texting is used by mid-sized and larger enterprises as well.
Features
EZ Texting and TextMagic both include SMS marketing features, but they also have a few standout features that set them apart from each other.
EZ Texting specializes in marketing features, including a text-to-landline feature that allows SMS marketing campaigns to reach landline phones. This can be important depending on the demographic of a campaign, as access to landlines opens up certain groups to marketing they may not receive otherwise. EZ Texting also includes native integrations with popular marketing software like MailChimp and Constant Contact, as well as analytics tools that help track user engagement. A wide variety of integrations allows businesses to easily pass data from one software to another.
TextMagic allows users to send texts online using many operating systems and includes an API to help businesses integrate TextMagic with existing systems. TextMagic also converts emails to text, allowing businesses to run simultaneous email and SMS campaigns with a single system. Lastly, in addition to a flexible API, TextMagic also includes integrations through Zapier, which allows less technical staff to integrate other software with TextMagic without writing code.
Limitations
Though EZ Texting and TextMagic both include automated SMS features, they also have a few limitations that are important to consider.
EZ Texting includes some out of the box integrations but isn’t as flexible as TextMagic can be with its flexible API. TextMagic also includes integrations through Zapier, so EZ Texting is only superior on integrations for businesses that don’t want to work with an API or Zapier. EZ Texting also can’t manage both email campaigns and SMS campaigns at once, so if your organization wants to run both through a single application, TextMagic may be preferred.
TextMagic can handle both emails and SMS messaging, but doesn’t have any support for text-to-landline. This can be a problem for organizations with a trusted landline number or who are targeting landline-using demographics. Additionally, while TextMagic includes integrations through Zapier and provides an API for custom integrations, its native integrations are limited.
Pricing
EZ Texting offers a Free 14-day trial that businesses can use before committing to a purchase. The Plus pricing tier is priced at $39.00 per month and includes additional free messages and custom keywords. The Select Tier and Elite tier similarly add more free texts and custom keywords at $75.00 per month and $119.00 per month respectively.
TextMagic offers a pay as you go model that prices texts depending on where they are being sent. For example, texts to United States phones start at $0.04 per text. Total costs depend on number of texts and who they are sent to.
