You launched a new feature – now what?

You’ve launched a new feature in your software and know it will be a game-changer for your customers. So why not get their candid feedback on it?

Getting feedback in the form of a review not only builds up the customer voice you want but also shows your product is always innovating and listening to what your customers need (which is gold for buyers evaluating software).

There are a few steps to getting feedback on new features for reviews:

  1. Request Custom Questions
  2. Review Refresh for Existing Reviewers
  3. Review Ask for New Reviewers
  4. Icing on the Cake: Reply to the Reviews!

Let’s break these steps down a bit.

1. Request Custom Questions

Did you know you can add specific questions to your product’s review flow? Our Custom Questions feature allows you to work with our team to craft 2-3 additional questions in the review flow based on topics that will have the most impact on your business.

If you know you want specific feedback on a new feature, you can add or change your custom questions to gather that feedback. Our research team works directly with you to make sure you are asking unbiased and helpful questions that help you and the buyer.

To learn more and see case studies on Custom Questions, check out this article. To get the process started, complete this form.

2. Review Refresh for Existing Reviewers

Once you have your questions set up, it’s time to start asking your customers for feedback. If you want to get feedback from existing reviewers, the best way to do that is through what we call a Review Refresh Campaign. In essence, we reach out to existing reviewers and send them directly to those new custom questions.

These are all done by the TrustRadius UGC Team. To request this campaign, fill out this form.

3. Review Ask for New Reviewers

Next, you’ll want to ask customers who haven’t left a review to do so. You can even highlight in your email that you are looking for specific feedback on the feature. There are a few ways you can ask for reviews:

  1. Submit a customer list to TrustRadius and have us do all of the work for you,
  2. Send an email to your customers or include it in your next newsletter, or
  3. If applicable, add an ad or banner in your community.

This is not an exhaustive list, but it’s a good place to get started and plan.

Let’s talk about sending your own email. An example email is below, and we highly suggest checking out our “Campaign Must-Haves” article before running DIY campaigns.

Another thing you’ll want to do is request your custom campaign link. You can do that here.

Example Email 1:
Subject: How are you liking {feature}?

Pre-header Text Options:

  • We’d love to hear how you’re implementing it!
  • We’ll send you $25 to hear how it’s going.

Body Copy:

Hi {first name},

Earlier this year we announced the launch of {insert feature here}. We’ve been hearing how impactful this has been across companies, and we’re interested in hearing directly from you.

You are at the core of what we do at {business name}, and it’s vital we know how new changes impact {customer’s business name OR your day-to-day}.

Would you mind taking a few minutes to leave your feedback? We’ll send you a $25 gift card when your review is published because we know your time is valuable.

We look forward to hearing about your experience!

*Include a disclaimer here about the deadline to submit a review. The key pieces we recommend are:

  1. You make it clear that the review must be published for any incentive to be given.
  2. There is a deadline in place or a certain number of reviews will receive the gift card.
  3. You mention it is for first-time reviewers of your software.

Example Email 2:
Subject: Last chance: $25 gift card for your opinion on the new {feature}!

Pre-header Text: We hope to hear from you.

Body Copy:

Hi {first name},

We know your time is valuable, so I’ll keep this short.

{Business Name} launched {new feature} and we want to know what you think!

If you haven’t already done so, leave a review on TrustRadius, and we’ll send you a $25 gift card as soon as it’s published.

4. Icing on the Cake: Reply to the Reviews!

You’re seeing those reviews come in – yay! If you want to take it a step further, we recommend replying to those reviews.

Replying to reviews lets two types of people know you care: your existing customers and potential customers. Your existing customers will feel heard and understood, and potential customers will see how involved you are even at the review level. If you’re responding to these reviews on another website, imagine how great your customer service is!

Now you know how to drive feedback on your new features. If you have any questions, check out our knowledgebase articles or reach out to your CSM.
